Demon Lord or Lord over Demons? (Matthew 12:22-37)

Christ warns that there is a sin that we can commit that will not be forgiven.  This is pretty serious because we might live our lives thinking that we are honoring the Lord only to get to glory to find out that we did not live an honorable life at all because of one sin.  How do we know that we did not commit this sin unto death?

Obtuse Outsiders (Matthew 8:28-34)

When Christ goes outside the land we would expect Christ to be embraced with open arms, but that is not the case. In fact, Christ encounters satanic forces, and then the men of the city affirm the satanic rebellion. What does this tell us about the status of man? What does this tell us about man’s nature desire for God? What does this tell us about the grace of Christ?

The Inglorious Reward (Mark 9:14-29)

You would think that after showing the glory of heaven to the disciples that there would be great joy in this. Finally, a kingdom that they could embrace, and see.  A kingdom that manifests the glory of the Lord.  However, this is not how the kingdom is manifested with the disciples at all.  So, why is it in the midst of what appears to be the disciples flailing that the kingdom is still working?  Why does Mark include this story in HIs narrative?

Lord over the Legion (Mark 5:1-20 )

When two armies face off there are two important things you want in your favor.  First, you want the element of surprise so that the other Second, you want to overwhelm your enemy with greater forces.  The demons have both on their side, but will Christ have to retreat?

What is this Kingdom? (Mark 1:14-28)

When we think about a kingdom or a king there is an image that we have in our mind.  We can be disappointed with the Israelites and even the gentiles who should have seen Christ and known Christ.  Our problem as humans is that we think we know better than we really do and we think we know more than we really do.  What do we see about Christ that is so contrary to our expectations?  How does Christ assure us that He really is sovereign and powerful?
