Living in the Better Word (Hebrews 12:25-29)

We are called to embrace rather than refuse the Lord who is speaking. Our God speaks to us in His word. Hebrews tells us, "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the hear" (Hebrews 4:12). This is the exhortation for us to see the power of God's word that is at work in us. So, we are told in Hebrews 12 not to refuse the Lord who is speaking. The reason is that through the power of God's word we have received a kingdom that transcends this age.

Discerning What is Pleasing to the Lord (2 Timothy 2:14-26)

When Paul exhorts the church he exhorts us to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. This means that in our day to day lives there might be things that we do not fully understand nor do we know what to do. Paul gives us general exhortations to live for Christ, and in Christ. How do we know that we will continue to conform to the Lord as His redeemed?

Concluding Exhortations (Jude 1:17-23)

Jude writes a letter with some very strong warnings cautioning people about challenging God. Jude has appealed to angels, battles before history, judgments in history and before history, and he has appealed to many events to make his case. The point of these events is to communicate that God always wins. This is an intriguing book, but how are we to live for the Lord in light of these exhortations? Are we to be terrified of our God?

One God, One Will (Exodus 3:14; 1 Corinthians 8:4-6 (LD 8 COD Head 5 Article 1)

The doctrine of the Trinity is a rather confusing doctrine.  In fact, it is a doctrine that we will not fully grasp or understand as creatures possibly even during glory. So, if this doctrine is so difficult can we really know our God?  What is good about such a confusing doctrine?  What does this doctrine have to do with our redemption?  In other words, if we cannot understand this doctrine then why talk about it?  What does such a doctrine have to do with the doctrines of grace?
